An evening promoting Intro magazine, which we wouldn’t usually want to talk about very much, but the lineup is mildly shit-hot, so here ya go.
Headlining at Lido with a massive three band lineup, Young Dreams out of sunny Norway do a totally chrystaline dream-pop thing, that, surprisingly given their largess in having six heads in the band, comes out sounding quite effortless. The perfect meeting of Fleet Foxes and the Beach Boys (Guardian.co.uk), it’s great to hear a Scando band that really nails it.
Manchester band the 1975 will be also on the bill, doing expansive pop noir that echoes their home city’s sonic history. It’s fair to suggest The 1975 grew up understanding their city’s musical heritage, their sound does reflect the dark art-rock of New Order and Joy Division. The title track of their current Sex Ep is a catchy pop tune.
Swedish act The Royal Concept will be gracing us also with their presence, contributing to the evening a really fresh sounding indie-pop that kind of goes back to Phoenix and even with the weather being so cold as it is, is so sunny that you’ll be ready for the beach.
Entry is free so long as you’ve RSVP’d on the Intro website (click Buy Tickets down below), which is nice deal even if you are signing your life away just a little bit.
